CALIFORNIA CERTIFICATION FOR PHR-SPHR CERTIFIED INDIVIDUALS
As an HR professional, you know the complexity of California specific law in relation to federal regulation. If you are currently PHR or SPHR certified, you are eligible to sit for the new CA specific certification. In April 2007, HRCI launched the first ever certification exam based on California laws and regulations. The SHRM California Learning System provides a comprehensive test preparation system for the PHR-CA/SPHR-CA certification exam and serves as an excellent reference tool for HR professionals on CA employment laws and the policies and practices necessary to ensure compliance. This new certification will help ensure that HR professionals have the means to demonstrate their knowledge of the state’s unique employment laws. The certification was developed by HRCI with significant assistance by the California State Council of SHRM and many other subject matter experts in California.
PROGRAM TOPICS
The SHRM California Learning System includes the four key topic areas addressed in the California certification exam.
The SHRM California Learning System was designed to provide a comprehensive study resource for the HRCI California certification exam. The system includes key topics, terms glossaries, practice questions and practical examples.
PROGRAM BENEFIT
According to the SHRM California State Council, HR professionals will be able to use the state certification exam to identify areas where CA law and regulation impose specific responsibilities on HR practitioners and to test the applicants’ understanding of the legal requirements and their ability to put that knowledge into practice. There are many issues, such as overtime, pregnancy leave and labor relations where California law is more generous than federal regulations. Understanding the differences in state and federal law is critical since employers are required to follow the law that is more generous toward the employee.
TESTING WINDOW
The testing windows for this certification exam are the first month of the testing window for the full certification exams, but are also in a computer based format and proctored at various Thomson Prometric Testing Centers.
You must hold a current PHR or SPHR Certification in order to register for or be eligible to take the California Specific exam.
