Accessibility Guidelines

University requirements for Web accessibility are defined by campus governance and are based on CSU Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) recommendations. Please visit the CSUCI Web Accessibility Web site for additional information.

Usability

Each Web site should use a consistent layout and navigation scheme.

Web site navigation should be easy to find, understand and use. 

Menus or navigation elements containing links should be limited to nine (9) links per grouping.

The Web site should be navigable without the use of a mouse.

Web site owners are responsible for ensuring that their Web site is highly usable prior to publishing any changes.

Web site owners should use the following strategies to verify the usability of their Web sites:

1. Use a Web design checklist to evaluate your Web site. Just query "Web design checklist" in a search engine for a list of results.
2. Test any new Web sites with as many potential site visitors as possible.
