A Message From The President Regarding Threat Incident

Dear Campus Community:

Yesterday we responded to an incident involving one of our students on campus. I must emphasize again that we believed that the campus community was never at risk. However, prudence and concern for everyone’s safety dictated that we take immediate action with regards to this student-made threat.

I am extremely proud of our campus Emergency Operations Center. This group worked efficiently to ensure everyone’s safety as well as the campus’ proactive approach of notifying the campus community and media outlets concerning the facts of the situation.

The following resources are being used to assist the campus community:

• Questions from students or parents regarding general campus information should be directed to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs by calling 437-8536.
• Counseling services for students are available by calling the Counseling and Student Health Center at 437-8828 or visiting their office located at 21 San Luis Avenue (behind Sage Hall).

Again, I assure you that safety on this campus is our principal concern and, in the upcoming weeks, members of our Emergency Operations Center will convene to discuss this incident and assess our current emergency procedures.
