B&TP to Present Leadership Awards, Scholarships

Camarillo, Calif., April 3, 2007 – The California State University Channel Islands Business & Technology Partnership (B&TP) will present awards to local leaders at its 2007 Leadership Dinner. The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at the Embassy Suites Hotel/Mandalay Beach Resort in Oxnard.

The B&TP will honor Timothy J. Gallagher, publisher of the Ventura County Star, with the Business and Community Leader of the Year award; Dr. David Banks, director of the Center for Asymmetric Warfare at Naval Base Ventura County, with the Technologist of the Year award; and Dr. William P. Cordeiro, director of the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CSUCI Channel Islands and professor of management, with the Faculty Leader of the Year award.

Five CSUCI transfer and junior-status students will be awarded $2,500 scholarships at the event. Those students are:  Ashley Canon, chemistry major; Jadona Collier, nursing major; Veronica Lazaro, nursing major; Emily Mazzucchi, biochemistry major; and Jaimee Morrison, mathematics major.

The Business & Technology Partnership’s 2007 Leadership Dinner is sponsored by Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, California State University Channel Islands, Capistrano’s, Dennis and Joan Gaiser, Ron Polanski and Betsy Bourne/Morgan Stanley, Logix Development Corporation, Pacific Coast Business Times, and Chair of the University’s Foundation Board Wayne Davey and his wife Barbara.
