WHAT: At the above place and time, the Santa Barbara State of the Art 2006 Gallery Exhibition of sculpture by eight regional artists will be presented. The event, sponsored by the city of Santa Barbara, features sculpture installations of eight regional artists, including Matt Furmanski, assistant professor of art, California State University Channel Islands. Furmanski, an MFA graduate of Claremont Graduate University, will install his sculpture, titled “Crossroads Oracle: A Lantern for Diogenes,” at 700 State Street. His ten-foot metal piece is interactive, featuring lights, crosswalk buttons, and a taped voice that asks questions of passersby.
