
Sheila J. Williams, an award-winning African American author of three novels, will present an inspirational talk at California State University Channel Islands on Wednesday, April 20, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the University Library Presentation Room and again on Thursday, April 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Science Auditorium.
The author, who writes about women who seek self-discovery and who face social conflicts, including domestic violence, has won several literary awards and recognitions. Her novels include Dancing on the Edge of the Roof, The Shade of My Own Tree, and her latest, On the Right Side of a Dream, which is scheduled to be published this month.
After the presentations, the author will autograph her books which will be available for purchase. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by CSUCI’s Division of Student Affairs.
