
Camarillo, Calif., November 21, 2005 – Six California State University Channel Islands students will be awarded scholarships at the third annual CPA/Law Society of Ventura County Scholarship Awards luncheon Friday, December 2, at the Pierpont Inn in Ventura.
CSUCI students who each won $1,000 are Jodi Lukes and Bryan Easterly of Ventura, Barbara Paz and Yalitza Pena of Port Hueneme, Jon Garlington of Oxnard, and Seth Cox of Santa Barbara. All six are business majors. This year, the CPA/Law Society will award a total of $20,000 in scholarships to students from CSUCI, Pepperdine University, the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Ventura College of Law.
The CPA/Law Society is an organization of certified public accountants, attorneys, and other professionals who meet monthly to hear speakers on various topics of professional or personal interest. The third annual scholarship luncheon will feature CSUCI President Richard Rush, who will introduce keynote speaker Jack O’Connell, state superintendent of public instruction.
