Island View Orientation (Freshman)

Freshman Island View Orientation is a required two-day, overnight program. All incoming freshman students must attend both days of the orientation and stay overnight in our on-campus student housing. Parents and guests are invited to attend the concurrent family orientation while their student attends Island View Orientation and may also stay on-campus (space is available on a first-come, first-served basis).

The registration period for orientation is April 12 through May 21, 2010.  Students who do not sign up and pay for orientation by May 21, 2010 will be waitlisted by the Admissions office. Students on the waitlist will be allowed to register for orientation and enroll at the University on a space available basis. At Island View Orientation freshman students will:

• Learn about academic requirements and policies;
• Get one-on-one professional academic advising;
• Register for classes;
• Meet fellow classmates and student leaders;
• Learn about the programs and services available; and  
• Find out how to get involved and maximize the CI experience.

Freshman Orientation

Orientation sessions are scheduled during the summer and offered for students to select on a first-come, first-served basis.  All orientation dates for the 2010 academic year are listed below.

• June 29-30
• July 7-8

• August 13

Reservation and Fee Information

Students will receive access to the online orientation reservation system through their Dolphin VIP page when their Intent to Enroll has been received by the Admissions office. The deadline for 2010 orientation is May 21, 2010. Students who do not sign up and pay for orientation by this date will be waitlisted by the Admissions office. Students on the waitlist will be allowed to register for orientation and enroll at the University on a space available basis.  Contact the Admissions office via email at admissions@csuci.edu or call the Enrollment Center at 805-437-8500 for assistance with access to the reservation system and/or waitlist concerns.

2010 Orientation Fees

• $140 Students (includes overnight housing in on-campus student housing)
• $90   Guests*
• $35   Additional fee for each guest staying overnight in on-campus student housing**

*All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

**Each guest staying overnight in our on-campus student housing must attend the parent/guest orientation.  Guests and students will stay in separate areas of student housing and are asked to stay in the room to which they have been assigned.   Housing for guests is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
